Punk (Planet) is Dead

In a blow to any independent journalism venture anywhere, Punk Planet has decided to stop printing. Their last issue should be coming soon.

I will say I was more of a long-range admirer, though I did start subscribing this year, and got one actual issue after my address got messed up for the first. Of course, my $20 benevolence wasn’t enough to save it, though I do have a few issues stashed away here and there that I would buy from the newsstand time to time. I have a hard time blaming it on the Internet age, but blame it more on the corporate media (especially since WSJ and USA Today just announced they’re starting magazines) that Punk Planet tried so hard to separate itself from.

Their writing was top-notch, their reviews thorough, and their stories a good blend of music and activism.
